Prof. Mary Gospodarowicz

Mary Gospodarowicz is University Professor at the University of Toronto, past Director of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and radiation oncologist with longstanding interest in genitourinary cancers and lymphomas.

Her research focused on clinical trials evaluating radiation therapy, image-guided precision radiotherapy, cancer survivorship, and more recently global cancer control, global access to radiotherapy, and quality of cancer care. She has authored close to 400 publications including papers, book chapters and books.

Dr. Gospodarowicz is a Past-President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). She spearheaded the Lancet Oncology Commission on expanding the global access to radiotherapy. She continues to contribute to UICC and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the City Cancer Challenge. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in the United Kingdom. Her awards include the Janeway medal from American Radium Society and the Gold Medal from American Society of Radiation Oncology. She was appointed as Officer of the Order of Canada in 2015.
