Dr. Ekaterine Tikaradze

Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs

Dr. Ekaterine Tikaradze was appointed as a Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia in June, 2019. She manages the biggest budget among the ministries in Georgia. She is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and supervision of the implemented activities in the fields of Labour, Health, IDPs and Social protection.

Dr. Tikaradze introduced substantial amendments to the Universal Health Care program aimed at improving quality and cost-effectiveness/cost-containment of the of services as well as took significant steps for strengthening Primary Health Care system by introducing telemedicine, which is a novelty in national health system. The Ministry with the leadership of Dr. Tikaradze successfully copes with the COVID-19 pandemic, that is evidenced by various international assessments.

Dr. Tikaradze graduated from Tbilisi Medical Institute. During 2015-2016 she studied Management Competence in Hospital Sector, at Healthcare Academy in Munster, Germany. In 2016 she gained MBA in Health and Medicine, Economics and Business Management at Danube University Krems in Vienna, Austria. From 2015 to 2019, she served as a Director General at JSC “Sachkhere Regional Hospital-Polyclinic Unification” as well as an Executive Director of NNLE “Dostakari” in Sachkhere, Georgia. From 2008 to 2013, she served as a consultant on Hospital and Insurance Sector Development in the Third World Countries in Medtrans Arbon, Switzerland.
