ROBOHAND

The need for affordable, functional upper limb replacements is immense. Robohand components are 3D printed using Polilactic Acid (PLA), derived from renewable resources such as corn starch, tapioca roots, chips or starch, or sugarcane. The fitment is customized to the wearer for comfort, non-toxic, water resistant and lightweight (300-700g). It is cost effective – costing between $500 – $2,000 – compared to the standard myo-electrical prosthetic device, which can cost over $10,000.

The Robohand is anatomically driven without the need for interfacing with nerves or requiring battery power. It is easy to maintain, repair, and upgrade with reusable components. The design is open source with freely available schematics and a fitment manual allowing the general public to print and assemble the devices themselves.
