Michael Phelps, the most successful Olympian of all time, gave a keynote speech at WISH 2018 about his own experience of dealing with anxiety and depression.

Michael Phelps is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time. He captured 28 medals and set 39 world records over the course of his career. Phelps utilized his performance bonus for winning eight gold medals in 2008 to establish the Michael Phelps Foundation.

Doha Healthcare Week 2018

The inaugural WISH Doha Healthcare Week took place from 6-12 November 2018, and it offered a diverse range of activities for all age groups including public lectures, workshops, debates, and training sessions.

Doha Healthcare Week takes place across Qatar’s capital city during the week leading up to the summit to promote health in the community and encourage local engagement

Dr. Tom Catena

‘Dr. Tom’, as he is affectionately known, is the only surgeon for approximately 1.3 million people in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan, Sudan. He has served in Africa for more than 20 years helping to establish the Gidel Mother of Mercy Hospital, which opened in 2008 and remains the only major provider of medical care in a vast region.

In 2012, she founded the Eva Longoria Foundation, which works to empower Latina women through a focus on education and entrepreneurship. Out Of Sight’ 360-Degree Film Series: Elephantiasis

This film, the first of three, takes place in Nigeria with lymphatic filariasis, or elephantiasis. This disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause the extreme swelling of body parts. Globally, a billion people live in areas that put them at risk of infection. Nigeria is one of the countries hardest hit by this disease.

“Out of Sight” is a series of 360-degree films telling the stories of the victims and health workers battling neglected tropical diseases in some of the most remote and underdeveloped regions of Nigeria and Congo. The series explores both the challenges of and progress toward eliminating three of those diseases.

Out Of Sight’ 360-Degree Film Series: River Blindness

This film was shot in both Nigeria and Congo and focuses on river blindness. It was once widespread in tropical areas across the world, but efforts to control it have significantly reduced infection. However, the disease remains a major cause of preventable blindness in certain parts of the developing world, and nearly 300,000 people are blind from it.

Qatar Charity’s Public Health Interventions to Combat The Corona Pandemic

Qatar Charity has launched an emergency response campaign in more than 34 countries worldwide to assist vulnerable communities hit by the Corona outbreak. The multi-dimensional scheme aims to provide urgent medical aid, medical equipment, protective gear, and sanitizers while abiding by health precautions throughout the aid delivery process in all targeted regions and communities.

Qatar Creating Vision, An Eye Care Initiative of The Qatar Fund for Development and Orbis

In 2016 the Qatar Fund for Development and Orbis launched the Qatar Creating Vision initiative in India and Bangladesh. In India the project focused on identifying children with refractive error, the largest cause of childhood vision loss globally. Children are screened in their schools, identified with vision loss and receive glasses then and there or are referred to local hospitals for further treatment.

The Thani Bin Abdullah Bin Thani Al-Thani Humanitarian Fund and Save the Children

The Thani Bin Abdullah Bin Thani Al-Thani Humanitarian Fund and global international NGO Save the Children launched a ground-breaking holistic programme in 2020 to deliver life-saving support to over 500,000 children in 6 of the 18 drought-affected areas of Somalia. The programme, which is ongoing across Somaliland, Puntland and the Southern States, is leveraging His Excellency Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani’s generous $19.6 million in Zakat and Sadaqah funding to strengthen health services, provide therapeutic feeding and clean water and sanitation, as well as support families enduring the drought crisis through a cash transform platform.
